Pond Eddy United Methodist Church

Pond Eddy UMC is a little church
Nestled high upon a hill
Overlooking the beautiful river valley
In a spot that is quiet and still.

It was probably the same way back when
The Circuit Riders first came through
Preaching the Word of God
When our country was still quite new.

The little church watched the D & H Canal
Being built in the valley below.
Then the railroad rumbled through,
While the preachers taught what folks needed to know:

About the great love of God
And how that love we are to share,
And families came and children grew up
And then moved away from here.

But no matter where they went
They took God’s love with them
And remembered the lessons learned at the little church
When times got tough for them.

The church was here when the Civil War came
Then World Wars I and II
And throughout its history forever reminding us
Of God’s love – always new.

We have lived through wars, depressions, recessions
Knowing that this too shall pass
It is here we are constantly being reminded
That only God’s Love will last.

For it’s not about us – this journey we walk
It’s about our God above
And so we walk into the future
Surrounded by His love.

Over the years one thing is clear
That the mission of this little church with the steeple
Is to serve the Town of Lumberland
sharing the love of Christ with all people.
